LANDOVER, Md. — The New Orleans offense will escape most of the criticism this week, lost in the tempest rightfully swirling around a Saints defense that has been overmatched for most of the last month.
But Drew Brees and company know they had a chance to turn Sunday’s 47-14 loss to Washington into another shootout and set up a chance for another nail-biting finish instead of an embarrassing blowout loss.
New Orleans faltered instead, unable to take advantage of a Washington defense that has struggled to rush the passer or stop the run for most of this season.
