Ochsner releases statement backing doctors fired by Saints last week

The New Orleans Saints fired two orthopedists last week after it was discovered that cornerback Delvin Breaux's injury was worse than the team initially thought.

Both doctors, Deryk Jones and Misty Suri, work with Ochsner Health System, which released a statement Tuesday in support of the them.

"Last week's media reports regarding the New Orleans Saints' decision to change team physicians suggested the decision was related to a 'misdiagnosis' of an injury sustained by one of the Saints' players," the statement reads. "Ochsner Health System, which employs the two orthopedists who worked for the Saints, routinely reviews any claims of questionable diagnosis, and has taken the time do so in this case.
