According to a report by the Wall Street Journal on Monday, the NFL withheld millions from its players. Arbitrator Stephen Burbank ordered the league to return as much as $120 million to a shared pool after the NFLPA filed a grievance. The money sum was from the past three years, and could offer up to a $2 million increase for each club’s salary cap for 2016.
This bodes well for the Saints, who have already made several moves to get under the league’s recent $155 million projected salary cap. More releases and moves are expected to be made, which could help the Saints easily meet double-digit capital to attract some free agents.
