As first reported by Judy Battista of NFL.com, the NFL ownership group voted to give the competition committee power to modify their recent rules change for instant-replay. The concern surrounds whether offensive or defensive pass interference fouls (called or not) would be subject to review from the replay booth or a coach’s challenge. As things stand, the booth would review questionable plays as they do with other calls.
This all stems from an incident near the end of the 2018 NFC championship game, when a Los Angeles Rams defender committed blatant pass interference against a New Orleans Saints receiver but officials did not penalize him.
