The New Orleans Saints jumped through enough hoops to please the NFL’s league office, so their contract with free agent offensive lineman Nick Easton approved Thursday. Easton’s agreement was reported last week and he had already begun speaking with media concerning his move when the NFL found something in the contract language that gave them pause. The final approval was first reported by Josh Katzenstein of the Times-Picayune.
This was nothing more than a procedural issue; essentially correcting a typo. But it was at least the the fourth time the Saints have caught the league’s attention with questionable content in their contracts, having previously seen a 2012 extension with head coach Sean Payton and several reserve/future contracts with players wiped out.
