Week 14 of the NFL season was filled with stunners — most notably the New Orleans Saints’ shocking 48-46 loss in a sprint with the San Francisco 49ers. Other teams weren’t quite so thrilled, with teams like the Carolina Panthers and Tampa Bay Buccaneers getting mathematically eliminated from the playoffs.
So where does this leave the Saints? They’ve fallen to the third seed after holding the projected first seed for a week, and they can’t fall any further. With just three weeks left to play, it’s impossible for the Saints to finish with a record worse than what the best NFC East team can accomplish — the Dallas Cowboys and Philadelphia Eagles can each max out at 9-7, while the Saints can bottom out at 10-6 at worst.
