Defensive tackle John Jenkins and offensive left tackle Terron Armstead are certainly smiling a bit more on Tuesday, as their base salaries have increased nearly $1 million each. Jenkins and Armstead will both receive salaries of $1.69 million in 2016. Per Over the Cap, Armstead’s previous base salary was $705K while Jenkins’ was $700K.
The pay increase was a product of the NFLPA’s Proven Performance Escalator under the Collective Bargaining Agreement. According to the CBA, this is mandatory for any rookies drafted in the third through seventh rounds.
