The New Orleans Saints have signed running back Vick Ballard to a reserve/future contract for 2016, according to the NFL wire.
Ballard, who played college ball at Mississippi State, was drafted by the Indianapolis Colts in the fifth round in 2012. He rushed for 814 yards in his rookie season but has battled major injuries and played sparingly since then. He was waived by the Colts last September.
The NFL wire also confirmed the Saints' signing of receiver Kyle Prater and CFL safety/linebacker Erik Harris.
The Saints now have five running backs under contract for 2016.
