BOCA RATON, Fla. -- When you're counting pennies in the NFL, you can't afford to throw out $1.67 million for a third tight end.
That's the bare minimum of how much the Saints would have to spend to keep tight end Josh Hill away from the Chicago Bears. Hill signed an offer sheet with the Bears on Tuesday giving the Saints five days to match the offer with Hill being a restricted free agent.
The Saints are in no position to spend that kind of money on Hill.
