Veteran cornerback Cortland Finnegan made the New Orleans Saints' original 53-man roster, but he didn't last long enough to play in the first game.
The Saints cut Finnegan on Tuesday, according to a league source. Pro Football Talk first reported the transaction.
For now, it looks like Finnegan's release makes room for rookie kicker Wil Lutz, whom the Saints signed on Tuesday. However, if that's the case, the Saints would still have two kickers on the roster, including Kai Forbath.
Perhaps there are more moves coming.
Finnegan joined the Saints during training camp, and he was primarily competing for nickel duties.
