In the hours following the Super Bowl on Sunday, the New Orleans Saints officially ended their relationship with defensive tackle Nick Fairley. There is still pending litigation regarding how much the team owes him, but he is now no longer with the team.
Following an up and down career with the Detroit Lions and a lackluster year with the Rams, Nick Fairley came to New Orleans in 2016 on a one-year “prove it” deal. And did he ever prove it. On a less than outstanding unit in 2016 Nick Fairley was one of the bright spots. He parlayed what he did in that one year into a 4-year, $28 million contract.
