Mike Ditka, who coached the New Orleans Saints for three seasons, will be removed from ESPN's Sunday Countdown show and replaced by 18-year NFL veteran quarterback Matt Hasselbeck, The Big Lead reported Tuesday.
Ditka will stay with the network and hold an "unspecified emeritus-type NFL role," the report said.
Ditka, 76, joined ESPN as an analyst in 2004. Ditka is best known as a Hall of Fame tight end who spent most of his playing career with the Chicago Bears. He coached the Bears to their only Super Bowl title, in 1986.
His time with the Saints did not go quite so well.
