The most recent report on contract negotiations between Saints wide receiver Michael Thomas and the team is that he’s asking for a $22 million per year average salary and they’re offering $18 million. That’s from Jeff Duncan of the New Orleans Times-Picayune who’s closely following the action.
We guessed correctly on the $18 million that would be offered by the Saints’ side. And there had been much talk in the lead up to these negotiations that Thomas would be looking to be the first receiver to break the $20 million barrier. It makes sense that he would go $22 in a bluff to meet in the middle.
