Mark Ingram faces tough road to franchise rushing record

New Orleans Saints running back Mark Ingram entered the season with three major goals: win a Super Bowl, earn a contract extension, and break the team’s all-time record for career rushing yards, set by the great Deuce McAllister at 6,096. McAllister also set the high-water mark with 76 touchdowns on the ground.

The odds of a title victory are as good as ever despite Thursday’s Dallas Cowboys upset, and Ingram doesn’t appear any closer to a long-term deal than he was when he held out of voluntary workouts in the spring. On top of that, recent team struggles to run at will on opponents have made it tougher for him to accomplish his third and final goal.
