It was reported Friday afternoon, Mar. 15, that the New Orleans Saints had come to terms on a two-year contract with former Oakland Raider and New York Giant defensive end/tackle Mario Edwards. Projected more as a DE in a 3-4 defense, Edwards will give the Saints some depth at pass-rush on third downs and will serve as backup behind Marcus Davenport in rotation.
Edwards was originally a high second-round draft pick (35th overall) by the Oakland Raiders in the 2015 NFL Draft out of Florida State. He spent three years in Oakland before playing with the New York Giants last season.
