New Orleans Saints pass rusher Marcus Davenport had a rookie season fans should feel good about, but his best is yet to come. The 6-foot-6, 265-pounder went on a tear in the first half of the season, notching 4.5 sacks and a dozen quarterback hits despite things getting derailed by a serious turf toe injury. Those were better numbers than his All-Pro teammate Cameron Jordan posted as a rookie back in 2011.
He also proved to be a naturally-strong run defender, rarely giving up ground and often filling the correct lane — and sometimes knifing between slower opponents to crash down on panicking ball-carriers, logging six tackles for loss of yards.
