In the course of a season, the Saints linebacker corps has gone from one of the least impressive in the NFL to one of the league’s best. Several factors have gone into making that a reality, but it couldn’t have possibly come at a better time.
Last year the big additions were former Carolina Panther backup A.J. Klein and Chargers cast-off Manti Te’o. Along with those two, the Saints drafted Florida Gator Alex Anzalone in the third round of the 2017 NFL Draft. Those players were brought into a rotation with Nate Stupar and Craig Robertson who were basically full-time reserves and special teams players.
