Josh Hill exits NFC championship game after helmet-to-helmet hit

New Orleans Saints tight end Josh Hill gave his team a jolt with a nice catch-and-run on a tight end screen, but a helmet-to-helmet hit from Los Angeles Rams linebacker Cory Littleton slowed his return to his feet. The officials noticed Hill’s sluggish behavior and sent him out of the game to be evaluated for a concussion. Littleton was not penalized for the illegal helmet-to-helmet hit.

The Saints were already down their starting tight end after Ben Watson missed several days of practice with a sudden case of appendicitis. That leaves rookie Dan Arnold and practice squad fixture Garrett Griffin to man the tight end position, unless Hill is cleared by the NFL’s independent concussions specialist.
