John DeShazier: Saints taking Drew Brees foot injury day by day

Drew Brees.

Brees injured his plantar fascia during Monday’s 35-27 loss to Detroit in the Mercedes-Benz Superdome, which dropped the Saints record to 5-9 entering Sunday’s regular-season home finale against Jacksonville (5-9).

In the game, he completed 34 of 52 passes for 341 yards and three touchdowns, without an interception.

“I know he’s had it looked at, he’s got an MRI,” Payton said. “I think each day we’ll gather more information, have a better idea of where he’s going to be as it pertains to playing in this game or not.”

If Brees is unable to play, it would the just the second game in his 10 seasons with the Saints that he would have to sit due to injury.
