John DeShazier: Saints cornerback Marshon Lattimore thriving under heavy expectations

The magnifying glass on the first of the New Orleans Saints’ two first-round draft picks has turned into a spotlight, and cornerback Marshon Lattimore hasn’t wilted one bit.

In fact, Lattimore, the No. 11 overall pick (offensive tackle Ryan Ramczyk was the Saints’ second first-rounder, at No. 32) and a starter from the season opener, has thrived under the expectations and responsibilities – so much so that Thursday, he was announced as the NFL’s Defensive Rookie of the Month for October.

Lattimore had two interceptions (one returned for a touchdown), 16 tackles (12 solo), five passes defensed, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery as the Saints (5-2) went 4-0 during the month.
