Sports betting sits on the verge of legalization in some U.S. states, and as early as 2018. Christie v. NCAA, affectionately referred to as the sports-betting case, intends to open up wagering on athletics. Four states already have some style of betting laws currently on their books: Nevada, Oregon, Montana, and Delaware. The rest of the country has been left out of the lucrative endeavor.
The outcome of this case will directly impact both professional and amateur sports throughout the United States, including Louisiana.
PASPA, the Professional and Amateur Sports Protection Act, is the reason most states can’t have legalized sports gambling.
