The New Orleans Saints and Atlanta Falcons played an entertaining game on Thursday night, if not wholly competitive.
New Orleans bullied their division rivals on each side of the ball. The defense collected 6 sacks and 13 other quarterback hits, along with 4 turnovers (3 fumbles, 1 interception). Quarterback Matt Ryan was Atlanta’s leading rusher with 16 yards on the ground. Saints quarterback Drew Brees scored 4 touchdowns, completing throws of 28, 12, 25, and 5 yards to undrafted free agents Tommylee Lewis, Austin Carr, Dan Arnold, and Keith Kirkwood.
This loss effectively ended Atlanta’s 2018 season, removing them mathematically from the race for an NFC South division title.
