We’ve seen enough of New Orleans Saints backup quarterbacks Tom Savage, Taysom Hill and J.T. Barrett. They’ve conducted the offense into a death spiral through two weeks of preseason games, combining for a very pedestrian third-down success rate of 36.6 percent (8 of 22). New Orleans has yet to throw a touchdown pass.
Saints safeties Vonn Bell and Chris Banjo haven’t exactly inspired confidence, either. Bell missed an open-field tackle on Jaguars backup tight end Scott Orndoff, and both safeties were targeted in pass coverage by Cardinals rookie quarterback Josh Rosen. New Orleans has to get better at this position.
