The New Orleans Saints established the NFL’s longest winning streak in 2018 by dictating game flow to opponents. They snapped that 10-game streak by getting complacent and letting the Dallas Cowboys decide how they would play.
Traditionally, this would mean establishing the run. Common thought has long held that the more teams run, the more they win. That isn’t really true. It’s more important to run efficiently than to call rushing plays just for the sake of it. Convert short yardage downs when you need them, get positive yards on first down, and win the simple math by running when you have as many or more blockers than there are defenders in the box.
