Former New Orleans Saints WR Joe Horn is among the twelve former NFL players recently indicted by the U.S. Justice Department. A criminal complaint has already been filed against ten former players, with Joe Horn and Reche Caldwell likely to be added soon, per the Washington Post.
Generally, it appears the allegations are that this group of former players filed for insurance reimbursements for medical expenses which were never actually incurred. It is unclear how intricate the alleged defrauding system was or is, but according to the complaint, players would file falsified or forged documents showing prescriptions or purchases of expensive medical devices, some upwards of $50,000.
