Hadouken to the Gut: Saints season ends on Vikings divine intervention

They had done it.

The Saints had come from 17 points down against one of the absolute best defenses in the NFL this season. New Orleans had overcome anemic offense, and solved the Minnesota offense. Drew Brees had led the club on four second-half scoring drives, including what should’ve been the game-winning kick with just 25 seconds remaining.

Minnesota’s Case Keenum wound up and threw it up to Stephon Diggs. All rookie safety Marcus Williams, whose third-quarter interception ignited the Saints’ hopes of a miracle comeback, had to do with settle in under the leaping Diggs and catch him, then fall to the ground.
