METAIRIE, La. -- Greg McMahon knows the drill by now.
As the longtime special-teams coordinator of the New Orleans Saints, the spotlight falls on him only when something goes wrong -- which has been the case this season like never before.
McMahon also had to swallow his pride this week when the Saints hired veteran special-teams coach Kevin O'Dea to assist the struggling units, which have been plagued by blocked kicks and botched returns, among other miscues.
But McMahon said he considers O’Dea a “good friend” and insisted he is “excited” about the move, which doesn’t really alter his job duties but adds “an additional set of eyes and expertise.
