Former Detroit Lions running back Theo Riddick will make his first free agent visit with the New Orleans Saints, as reported by Rob Demovsky of ESPN. The Lions cut Riddick Saturday after loading up their backfield with several quality runners including Kerryon Johnson, C.J. Anderson, and Zach Zenner.
Riddick is known as one of the league’s premier passing-down backs, having averaged 62 receptions per season over the last four years. He made a living catching passes in the flats and providing a consistent safety valve for Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford; his fit in New Orleans is very easy to put together.
