The Kansas City Chiefs hired a new defensive coordinator not remembered well by New Orleans Saints fans: Steve Spagnuolo, who led the Saints defense in 2012. That unit logged the worst defensive performance in NFL history, breaking a 31-year old record by allowing 7,042 yards from scrimmage. Since parting ways with the Saints after the 2012 season, Spanguolo has been coordinating the New York Giants defense.
Spagnuolo’s Saints unit was marred by issues that continued once he took over the Giants defense: lack of pressure and turnovers, poor fundamentals, and slow adaptation to change.
