Saints fans, this may be a great season. We need it to be a great season because we are at a tough crossroads. The 2006 Saints were a stepping stone to greatness. A solid draft and the acquisition of Drew Brees made for a team with the proper roux for a solid run. They needed the other ingredients, though.
Over the next few seasons, they filled the pot and had not only a Super Bowl victory, but a solid run. The Bountygate issue coupled with some poorer “win now” moves left them hurting for a few seasons, but the last three drafts have been solid, and the Saints again look like a team of destiny.
