Well, the situation the New Orleans Saints have been preparing for — and dreading — is here. Starting quarterback Drew Brees is going to miss extensive time with an injury. The glass case for the fire extinguisher has been shattered, and Teddy Bridgewater (the NFL’s top-paid backup passer) has been promoted to see the team through its most-challenging period in recent memory.
It’s anyone’s guess as to how Bridgewater will perform, with his first game coming on Sept. 22 on the road against the Seattle Seahawks. He hasn’t impressed in brief action so far, but have some perspective.
