NEW ORLEANS – Every once in a while, a play is so embarrassing that it can define a team’s calamity.
The New Orleans Saints’ “punt fumble” on Monday night might not go down in infamy like the New York Jets’ 2012 “butt fumble” – or even former Saints quarterback Aaron Brooks’ backwards pass in 2004.
But it’s in the same neighborhood – and it could practically serve as a one-play highlight reel for the Saints’ 0-3 start.
"It's a terrible play," coach Sean Payton said, pulling no punches after the Saints’ 45-32 loss to the Atlanta Falcons.
