Drew Brees up for FedEx Air and Ground Award in first game after injury

New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees returned to the Mercedes Benz-Superdome playing like he’d never left. In his first game back from a thumb injury that sidelined him for five weeks, Brees completed 34 of his 43 passes (79.1%) against the Arizona Cardinals to lead his team to a 31-9 victory. Those completions turned into 373 passing yards and three touchdown catches, against just one interception.

It was enough to get Brees nominated for this week’s FedEx Air & Ground Awards. If he wins, he’ll be the first Saints player to do so this season after Teddy Bridgewater (nominated in Week 5) and Latavius Murray (considered in Week 7) vied for the awards.
