Anyone holding out hope for a more optimistic timetable for Drew Brees’s return can stop now. After receiving a second opinion in Houston on his injured right thumb, Brees has opted to go ahead with the surgery.
After having his injured passing hand examined by two specialists, #Saints QB Drew Brees has decided to have surgery tomorrow in LA with Dr Steven Shinn. A source tells me timetable for his return won’t be known until surgery is complete.

Early reports indicated that Brees would be out 6-8 weeks with a torn ligament, but an actual timetable won’t be known until the extent of the damage is revealed after the operation.
