New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees doesn’t share the heavy workload of many of his teammates during the preseason, and that’s by design. The team doesn’t need to test him every day in practice like their less-experienced players.
So that means a lot of standing around and observing for Brees, especially during the Saints preseason games. When the Saints flew out to the West Coast for a few days of joint practices with the Los Angeles Chargers, he embraced the opportunity to work against another team in practice. From his perspective, it’s just as beneficial as the preseason game itself — if not more so.
