New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees surged in the annual Top 100 Players ranking from NFL Network, rising to the second-overall spot after placing eighth a year ago. He was the highest-ranked quarterback on the list, above the reigning league MVP in Kansas City Chiefs upstart Patrick Mahomes (fourth), last year’s top-ranked player in New England Patriots legend Tom Brady (sixth), and Green Bay Packers signal-caller Aaron Rodgers (eighth).
This list, assembled by ballots surveyed from the NFL players themselves, shows just how widely-regarded Brees is. He earned praise from former opponents, offensive and defensive players, and some fresh faces who haven’t even lined up against him yet.
