New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees has spent countless hours volunteering for Habitat for Humanity during his 10-plus years with the team, and he understands the work to rebuild the city and provide homes for the less fortunate is not yet done.
Brees, in partnership with Marriott International, helped construct a home in Central City Friday afternoon for Shanell Williams and her two sons, 11-year-old Cardaz and 6-year-old Dontrell.
Brees spoke with the family, saying the boys reminded him of his own sons, and offered them an autographed football before helping volunteers from Marriott and New Orleans Area Habitat for Humanity hoist a wall for the new home on Jackson Avenue.
