The New Orleans Saints quarterback continues that tradition this offseason, learning this week that he is up for two ESPY Awards: the Best Record Breaking Performance and Best NFL Player.
This past season, Brees became the National Football League’s all time passing yardage leader, breaking the record formerly held by Peyton Manning in a Monday Night Football victory over the Washington Redskins, when he threw a 63 yard touchdown pass to wide receiver Tre’Quan Smith.
Brees also became the fourth quarterback in NFL history to throw for over 500 career touchdown passes, took sole possession of the NFL’s all time record for pass completions, and he broke his own mark for single season completion percentage.
