The New Orleans Saints finally signed free agent tight end Jared Cook to a contract, and further information on the agreement have come to light. Josh Katzenstein of the Times-Picayune first reported the contract details.
Cook’s contract is basically a two-year deal worth $15 million. $8 million of it (a $2 million base salary in 2019, and a $6 million signing bonus) is guaranteed at the time of signing, and Cook will get all of that in 2019. So it averages out to $7.5 million per year. Considering many other, less-qualified tight ends got $6 million per year, that’s a heck of a bargain.
