It’s not all doom and gloom for the New Orleans Saints in the wake of Drew Brees’ injured throwing hand. One player who’s making the most of his opportunities was one a longshot to even make the roster: returns specialist Deonte Harris.
Harris has gone from fielding punts in front of crowds just 2,000-strong at Assumption College, a small school in Worcester, Mass., to making plays for the Saints in front 70,000 fans inside the Mercedes-Benz Superdome. And he’s looked like he belonged every step of the way.
Through two games, Harris has already gained 54 yards on six punt returns.
