For nearly two decades, the New Orleans Saints have had a go-to pregame ritual of gathering around starting quarterback Drew Brees for a speech and team chant. It’s one of their longer-running traditions, but this time, Brees isn’t available — he’s still in Los Angeles, recovering from surgery on his injured throwing hand.
So someone else had to step in. And of course the player to do so was one of the team leaders: starting linebacker Demario Davis. Davis filled in admirably with his teammates gathered around him, telling them, “Listen up man, it’s time to hunt!”
Davis joined the Saints last year as a veteran free agent, having previously spent his NFL career with the New York Jets and Cleveland Browns.
