USA TODAY Sports’ Lorenzo Reyes has been putting out his rankings of defensive units, and with his rankings of NFL secondaries, the Saints unsurprisingly came in last at No. 32.
Reyes’s reasoning for ranking the New Orleans’ secondary last is a pretty simple one- they have played like it the past few years. He notes that in 2015, the Saints defense allowed an NFL record 45 passing touchdowns, and followed that up in 2016 by allowing the most passing yards in the NFL. New Orleans fans can’t deny the weakness in their secondary, as the unit’s ineffectiveness is a big reason for what’s been holding back a team that has a consistently powerful offense.
