The Saints and defensive tackle David Onyemata have been waiting for the other shoe to drop since January when he was arrested on misdemeanor marijuana possession charges. The suspension that has been handed down is for one game and will be served on Sep 9 when the Saints open their 2019 with the first game of the traditional season-opening Monday Night Football doubleheader against the Houston Texans at home in the Superdome.
The one-game suspension is in line with NFL policy on such matters and is identical to that given to Denver Broncos wide receiver Carlos Henderson in the 2018 Season.
