The case of Carl Granderson was a strange one for the Saints during this past offseason. As a draft prospect, according to both NFLDraftScout and Pro Football Focus, he was rated below BYU rookie Corbin Kaufusi who the Saints cut yesterday, Aug 30. Brought in as an undrafted rookie free agent, he also had some legal issues hanging over him that could have potentially been major issues. But the Saints liked the bargain and signed him to a three year deal with an unheard of, for a UDFA, $85,000 guaranteed following the 2019 NFL Draft.
