Running back C.J. Spiller was released by the New Orleans Saints on Tuesday in the second year of his four-year deal worth up to $16 million.
In Sunday's game against the Oakland Raiders, Spiller was inactive even though he was healthy.

The Saints have running backs Mark Ingram, Tim Hightower, Travaris Cadet, Marcus Murphy and Daniel Lasco on the roster.
Spiller appeared in 13 games with two starts and accounted for 351 yards from scrimmage. He ran for 112 yards on 36 carries and caught 34 passes for 239 yards and two touchdowns in his only full season with New Orleans.
