The New Orleans Saints traded up in the fourth round of the 2019 NFL Draft to add Florida Gators defensive back Chauncey Gardner-Johnson, and he couldn’t be happier to wear black and gold and join his new teammates. Gardner-Johnson briefly spoke with the local media on a conference call after the Saints announced the selection.
“Best corner in the NFL,” Gardner-Johnson replied when asked about his lining up next to cornerback Marshon Lattimore. And that’s more than Gardner-Johnson being a homer, he might be right: Lattimore leads the NFL in combined interceptions (7), pass breakups (30), and forced fumbles (5) since he entered the league in 2017.
