The Buffalo Bills hired Kathryn Smith as the NFL's first full-time female coach, as she will fill the role of the special teams quality control coach, the team announced Wednesday night.
"Kathryn Smith has done an outstanding job in the seven years that she has worked with our staff," Bills coach Rex Ryan said in a statement. "She certainly deserves this promotion based on her knowledge and strong commitment, just to name a couple of her outstanding qualities."
Continued Ryan: "Kathryn has been working in a football administrative role and assisted the assistant coaches for years.
