The New Orleans Saints might find themselves to be the victim of copycats. The NFC South-rival Tampa Bay Buccaneers signed former Mississippi State Bulldogs quarterback Nick Fitzgerald after he wasn’t picked in the 2019 NFL Draft, but Fitzgerald is readying himself to make that quarterback designation as meaningless for him as it is for Saints sensation Taysom Hill.
“I definitely enjoy the fact that they saw me as a quarterback and possibly playing another role,” Fitzgerald told Greg Auman of the Athletic. Fitzgerald’s career was threatened by a catastrophic ankle injury in the final game of his junior year, but he still graduated as the SEC’s all-time leader in rushing yards by a quarterback (3,607).
