METAIRIE, La. -- In one sense, Lance Moore wasn’t a prototype player. The 5-foot-9, 187-pound receiver went undrafted out of Toledo in 2005 and got cut by the Cleveland Browns before landing on the New Orleans Saints' practice squad.
But eight years later, Moore ranks among the top five players in Saints history in receptions and touchdowns catches and top seven in receiving yards. And on Tuesday, Sean Payton said in a statement that Moore was both “emblematic of what it meant to be a New Orleans Saint” and “the blueprint of what we look for in a member of this football team.
