The New Orleans Saints defense has steadily improved over the years, due in no large part to key contributors like Demario Davis, Cam Jordan, and Marshon Lattimore. Other key contributors help round out the defense, with names like Sheldon Rankins, Marcus Williams, and AJ Klein have been solid, if unspectacular, pieces around them.
To make the jump from “good” to “great” defenses, it usually takes one of those solid-but-unspectacular pieces taking a leap into Pro Bowl territory. For the 2020 Saints defense, linebacker Alex Anzalone could very well be that key piece that helps determine the fate of the defense.
